The Public Interest Law Association (PILA) is a student-run organization at The City University of New York School of Law.
On Friday, April 7th, PILA will be honoring Seymour W. James, Jr., Attorney-in-Chief of The Legal Aid Society, and Geoffrey Bickford, class of 2008 CUNY School of Law alum, at our 24th Annual Gala.
PILA's gala serves two important objectives: to shine a spotlight on the impactful work of social justice lawyers (like our honorees), and to raise summer fellowship funds for our law students.
By giving our students the financial means to take on unpaid public interest internships, these fellowships serve a vital connection between our students and the communities they serve.
This year's crop of potential PILA recipients will be interning at Make the Road NY, The Bronx Defenders, Day One, Brooklyn Defender Services, and The Legal Aid Society, among others.
Please consider a donation to help our students take on this much needed work. Your donation is tax-deductible. Thank you. If you have any questions please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
