I have signed up for the Last Man Standing ultra-marathon. This is a unique 24 hour race that will take place over Labor Day weekend at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester Maine.
The race begins at noon on Saturday and is scheduled to end at noon on Sunday. Participants will run a 4.2 mile loop each hour for 24 hours. If you fail to finish the 4.2 mile loop within the 60 minutes, you are eliminated. This will continue until there is only ONE runner left.
Last year’s winner completed 20 loops (84 total miles). It will take grit and determination to compete for 24 hours. There will be pain and suffering. It takes a little bit of insanity to do great things. I believe I have what it takes to be the last man standing this year. #lastman2018
Along with my passion to compete and shatter my previous limitations, I am on a mission to positively impact as many lives as possible. My family and I share that goal and we have identified a local non-profit organization that we would like to raise money to support.
The South Kingstown CARES is a non-profit volunteer organization, developed as a needs-based support for the South Kingstown school district.
SK CARES successfully bridges the gap between members of our community and the students served within the school district. SK CARES recruits, trains, and places nearly 400 volunteers annually. These volunteers serve as mentors, assist with the homework club, work in the college and career center, and assist directly in the classrooms.
These volunteers are amazing and play a pivotal role in the development of our children.
Please consider donating to support a great cause.
