We are running the Surrey Half Marathon on 10th March 2019 to raise money for Harrison's Fund who have been the supporting our family through a devastating diagnosis.
At the end of 2015 our cousin Maxine found out that her 2 year old son Austin had been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The symptoms are heart-breaking and the prognosis is devastating, but there are some great charities out there who are doing all they can to help fund on-going research into Duchenne.
Harrison’s Fund is named after the ten year old Harrison Smith from Surrey who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare genetic condition which affects all the muscles in the body, causing them to waste away. Harrison’s Fund’s goal is to get as much money as possible into the hands of the world’s best researchers, who are working to find a cure for Duchenne. The charity is currently funding 12 research projects in the US and the UK.
