I'm Solomon Islands-bound in early September as a VSA (Volunteer Service Abroad) volunteer, putting my journalism skills to use as a newsroom and editorial adviser for Isles Media for six months.
I am excited to support Isles Media founder and publisher Lynda Wate Seni, named the 2016 Business Woman of the Year by the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce, and winner of the Industry Business Achiever Award the same year by the Solomon Island Women in Business Association. Lynda and her busy team publish three weekly newspapers - Sunday Isles Newspaper, Raw Sports Newspaper, and Solomon Women Newspaper. I'm going to be busy!
The support of VSA enables me to try to do the best job I can and I'm very grateful for the opportunity. It ain't cheap. What's more VSA sends keen Kiwi volunteers all over the Pacific and South East Asia doing what we all hope to do - make a difference. With your help I'd like to contribute to the work VSA does by raising some money. Here's food for thought - everyone who donates at least $10 will be emailed a copy of my 104-page, vegetarian cookbook, Kind Kai. Donations over $50 will be entitled to a print copy of the collection of delicious, family-friendly recipes that will provide all the good nutrition you need and will be kind to you, animals and our wonderful home, Earth.
Please help me help VSA by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about VSA, NZ's oldest and largest volunteer organisation working in international development, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
