My Story

Learning to see the world through different eyes is a beautiful thing.

Going to Nepal, not only was I able to see God's handiwork in another part of the world in culture, also in unique natural landmarks, the people are masterpieces of God's creation. Sadly, Nepal is one of the countries affected by leprosy.

A disease which isolates individuals from families and society, not because it is easily transmitted (this is only partially true). But because leprosy is known to be a curse by the gods. This idea sadly devalues the lives of people with leprosy, in God’s eyes human value does not change but in Nepal leprosy is a valid cause to disown and reject family and members of the community.

Leprosy is a disease caused by a bacteria which attacks the nerves mainly in the face, hands and feet. The physical deformities leprosy leaves contributes to the rejection and neglect in society but also disables leprosy affected people from carrying out everyday tasks such as eating, cleaning, cooking making it difficult to live a normal life.

Leprosy can definitely be cured by a 6-12month treatment plan. However, there is much more than leprosy that needs to be cured. The stigma leprosy holds in Nepal needs to be dismantled, people need to be educated on the true causes of leprosy so they can stop belittling leprosy affected people. People need to be educated on the early symptoms of leprosy so they can seek help earlier for better chance of healing. People also deserve better living standards, for better health and immune systems to fight away diseases such as leprosy.

Please help me, help people with leprosy in Nepal. By donating to my EverydayHero page we will be able to fund a 157meter water pump to source the leprosy hospital with fresh water. A life source everyone deserves!

If you wish to give to the cause, your small contribution, along with my small contribution alongside others will mean so much to leprosy affected patients. They are the most gratuitous people.

God bless you all and your giving hearts <3

Hey family, friends and strangers! We are the 2020 Leprosy Mission Youth Advocates and we need your support.

In January 2020, we travelled to Kathmandu Nepal and stayed at Anandaban Leprosy Mission Hospital, where we met many people affected by leprosy and the incredible doctors dedicated to helping them. It was devastating to hear firsthand the stories of those affected by this awful disease, but what was really life changing was the hope that remains in these people, despite all they have been through. We met children who are unable to go to school because their hands are so clawed that they can no longer write. Teenagers that are afraid to tell their friends why they are in hospital through fear of being shunned due to the stigma that comes with the word "leprosy". Women whose husbands have left them and men who are no longer able to work. However leprosy is curable. Multi-drug Therapy is an antibiotic that treats the Leprosy disease and through MDT, and hospitals like Anandaban that provide physio, prosthetic's and surgeries, leprosy affected people can recover.

When we approcahed Anandaban Leprosy Mission Hospital for a project that we could support, they had a clear answer of the need at the top of the list - a better quality water supply.

Water is a fundamental human need. It is essential for drinking, cooking and keeping yourself clean. Polluted water can be deadly, causing sickness and disease. A poor water supply may also dry up in the hot season, causing water shortages, and in monsoon season it becomes even more contaminated with mud and water run off.

We are fundraising for a quality clean water supply for Anandaban Hospital. A pipe will go down 157 meters into the ground and a pump will push this clean water up the pipe to Anandaban Hospital. This will be life changing for the leprosy affected people that stay at Anandaban Hospital, but to make it happen we need to raise $25,000.

Please help us by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about this, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing our page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
