Background:
Rathfarnham WSAF & Dublin University Harriers and Athletic Club have come together to raise money for HOPE in a virtual event to Kolkata.
Normally at this time of the year all of our Rathfarnham athletes are busy racing and preparing for a busy season of athletics leagues and championships. All events are cancelled for the moment. With this in mind how about taking on Run for HOPE.
With Varsity Track and Field and summer training sessions cancelled for this year, DUHAC members from across the country will be taking on this new challenge to and will run, walk, jog or cycle for the Hope Foundation this weekend."
Last year Rathfarnham club member Clodagh Cullen fundraised and travelled out to Kolkata to see first hand the great work that this Irish charity do for some of the least privileged children in the world visiting some of the 60 projects that HOPE run including, HOPE homes, hosiptal and creches. Her experience was life changing and has prompted this event.

Already living in difficult circumstances, the street children and slum communities whom HOPE support have had their lives dramatically impacted by the catastrophic pandemic of COVID-19 and now by Cyclone Amphan which has devastated Kolkata , it is a disaster upon a disaster. How much more devastation can these communities take? They are hungry, tired and fearful of what the coming days and weeks hold for them as the monsoon season approaches.
As little as 20 Euro feeds a family of 5 for two weeks. HOPE needs our help to prevent the city of Kolkata from starvation.

Like Many charities their National Fundraising day was cancelled so
please give as much as you can after partaking in our challenge, don't
forget to tag us and the HOPE foundation on your social media!

Thank You
