We are taking on the 1500m Glendalough lake swim on 10th September, which coincidentally is World Suicide Prevention Day.
We are sisters-in-law and keen swimmers but know that this swim will be a challenge to us both. Glendalough Lake is very cold, pitch dark, extremely deep and will be filled with other swimmers on the day so we'll be battling through the crowds in our wetsuits! We are both motivated by the desire to raise funds and awareness for the Irish charity, Suicide or Survive (SOS), whose suicide prevention and mental health promotion programmes have helped so many - not just in Ireland!
Each and every one of us has mental health and most of us know how it feels when our mental wellbeing takes a dip. There are so many people who suffer from depression and anxiety and unfortunately a large number of people who have suicidal thoughts. The programmes run by SOS can and do help. You can find out more about their programmes on their website: www.suicideorsurvive.ie
The funds we raise will help SOS to continue running their innovative, proven and life-changing programmes in communities throughout Ireland and globally through its online Wellness Workshop. Please help us to help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. Thank you in advance for your generosity - it really means a lot.
