I am cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats between 25th July and 3rd August to raise funds for Galway Hospice. Funds raised will go to ‘Project Minibus’, which aims to raise funds to buy a new minibus for the Hospice. This specially adapted minibus will assist with transport for patients with restricted mobility. Hospice transport is used to bring patients to and from appointments, to and from the Inpatient Unit in Renmore and on outings. Last year alone, the Galway Hospice Community Palliative Care Team made over 7,000 ‘Hospice at Home’ visits to patients in their own homes, and there were over 1,200 patient visits to the Hospice Day Care Unit in Renmore. With an increase in demand for Hospice services, a new minibus is a much-needed resource.
