Endometriosis is a crippling disease affecting one in ten women, causing infertility and pain.
I was first diagnosedwith endometriosis when I was 22, and my whole life was changed beyond recognition.
Endometriosis is mainlybased within the pelvic region, where tissue called endometriomum causes adhesions between organs and cyst like growths, outsideand inside pelvic organs, including large ovarian cysts. There are four stages of endometriosis, I was diagnosed with stage four. I have had three surgeries and gone through agony I never thought I could have handled. There were times where I could not walk, and I have spent a great deal of time in the last three years in and out of hospital.
Throughout this time, Endometriosis Australia has been a rock. A place I could go to find advice and hear the stories of others. More than anything, it made me realise I was not alone.
Endometriosis Australia inspired me to start my own group for the south coast of NSW, Endometriosis Information and Awareness (facebook.endo.info)
Over the last year, with the help of friends, family and a supportive community, EIA has been running some fundraiser stalls, and donating to Endometriosis Australia. This month is a great opportunity to do more, and to make a statement by wearing yellow and showing support for endometriosis awareness. Please donate to help Endometriosis Australia continuetheir important work.
