White Ribbon Writing Competition
1st May, 2014
Enter and Swear!
Between JUNE 1 and OCTOBER 15, writers from across AUSTRALIA are invited to join the WHITE RIBBON WRITING COMPETITION to help raise awareness and important funds for White Ribbon. All writers will participate in the ’My Oath’ campaign for White Ribbon, by ’swearing’ to stop violence against women when submitting their competition entries.
Entry details can be found on the website http://whiteribbonwriting.com For a $10 entry fee/donation through the Everyday Hero Website your submission will be judged by a panel of award winning writers and academics from the University of Queensland’s EMSAH faculty. Winners will be announced on 25th November, White Ribbon Day.
WHITE RIBBON WRITING COMPETITION is proud to be supporting White Ribbon in raising awareness about violence against women in our community and encourages others to do the same.
’One in three Australian women has experienced physical or sexual violence in her lifetime,’ says GeorgeE, organiser of the event. ’This could be your mother, sister, daughter or friend. So by supporting WHITE RIBBON WRITING you will be joining us on the path of prevention and change.’
WHITE RIBBON WRITING COMPETITION will be one of many events taking place across Australia to raise awareness for White Ribbon Day, 25 November, the UN Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
White ribbons and wristbands will be available at a number of stores around Australia, as well as online. To find out which stores, visit www.whiteribbon.org.au. For more information about White Ribbon Day visit www.whiteribbon.org.au.
You can also take part in the ‘My Oath’ campaign by visiting www.whiteribbon.org.au/myoath and swearing never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women.
