The Walk For Life Team is made up of a group of people dedicated to raising money and awareness for Prostate and Breast Cancers. We plan to show this dedication by walking around Australia, starting in Stanthorpe, Queensland on the 2nd May 2015, heading north and walking approximately 50km per day.
The aim is to raise $300,000! or more would be better. Funds raised will be divided equally between The Prostate Foundation of Australia and the National Breast Cancer Council.
‘Walk for Life’ is a big commitment for all members participating. The team members are currently taking the time to fundraise as well as train for the big walk. We are expecting the walk to take approx. 14 months and in that time they will be living on the road in their caravans. A support crew will help throughout the duration of the trek by organising promotional work, fundraising and media coverage, as well as camp site duties. As the Walk For Life team enter towns and cities they plan to have events to highlight their dual causes, to invite the public to talk to them about their own experiences and to encourage others to have check-ups as early detection is vital and easy.
