RUNNERS HIT THE PAVEMENT TO SHOW THANKS TO FRONTLINE WORKERS
Recreational running group, The Run Squad, rally together in relay to raise money for the frontline healthcare workers at Sydney Children’s Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital.
The community behind Centennial Park based recreational running group, The Run Squad, is coming together for a charity relay nicknamed THE RUN SQUAD ‘RELAY FOR HOPE’ to show support and gratitude for Sydney’s frontline healthcare workers by raising much needed funds during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Across 48 hours on Saturday 16 May and Sunday 17 May, 90 runners from The Run Squad will participate in a two-by-two relay, where they will leave from their homes and run to the destination of the next squad member. In total, they will cover in excess of 150kms across all areas of Sydney.
To participate, the “Squaders” will make a donation of their chosen amount to the frontline workers at Sydney Children’s Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital, and will find one (or more) sponsors to make a donation in support of them participating in the relay.
What started out as an idea amongst a few of the runners from the squad linking up in a house to house relay to keep some presence of social connection during a testing time has turned into a highly positive community event with the aim of supporting the efforts of healthcare workers putting their lives on the line for the rest of us.
We encourage you to help support us in giving back to our incredible frontline workers.
