As an open water swimmer, I swim laps all the time... but on the 27th Feb 2020, I will be embarking on the most challenging lap I’ve ever done. I will be swimming a lap to help fight depression. A lap to raise money for The Black Dog Institute. A lap around Moreton Island.
After seeing a strong, successful family member lose a fight with depression, it just broke my heart to know that he was suffering so badly. It was after this tragic event, I knew that something had to be done!
By swimming around Moreton Island, I am hoping to raise awareness of depression and it’s devastating affects, and ultimately I would love to raise vital funds for the Black Dog Institute so they can prevent and treat mental illness in the community. My ambition to achieve this feat and the need to raise awareness for a worthy cause have culminated in the Black Dog Lap.
The Black Dog Lap will be completed over a 4-day period in Feb-March 2020 with the assistance of many kind sponsors, and all proceeds will go towards the Black Dog Institute.
Please help me raise these much-needed funds so that the Black Dog Institute can improve the lives of people affected by mental illness through high quality research and improved clinical treatments, increased accessibility to mental health services and delivery of long-term public health solutions.
Thank you in advance for your generous donation. Every little bit helps!
