The connection between poverty and shoes is well-documented. The World Bank estimates that approximately 400 million children worldwide – more than the entire U.S. population – live in pronounced poverty. Millions of these children will grow up never having had a pair of shoes, resulting in significant ramifications for their health and well-being. Lacking proper footwear, countless children will not be able or permitted to attend school. And tens of millions of these poverty-stricken, barefoot boys and girls will be infected with soil-transmitted parasitic diseases, causing lasting suffering and lifelong debilitation.
You can make a world of difference to someone just like you by making a weekly gift of just $10.
In addition, your weekly contribution will support the meaningful employment of people with disabilities in Australia.
My heart is warmed and I can only smile when I hear the enthusiasm and joy in the voices of the staff at Wesley Social Enterprise about the work they are doing with us at Soles4Souls Australia, which began in January this year.
The team are sorting and packing your donated shoes each week which is an exciting prospect for the growth of Soles4Souls Australia and the increased number of people we (together with supporters like you) will be in a position to support now and into the future.
The team are proud, happy and enjoying making a positive contribution to the world. This is the difference you are also making by supporting Soles4Souls Australia through your gifts of shoes and funds. We are incredibly grateful for your contribution and support. Thank you.
Something else to consider… have you ever thought “what if”…
What if… a simple pair of shoes was the key to reducing the risk of infection and improving the health of an 8 year old girl, allowing her to attend school, gain an education and play with her friends?
What if… this girl, because of her school education, grew up to go to university or gain employment in her community, giving her the skills and means to support herself and her family?
What if… because of her employment she was then able to invest more in her children in turn, improving their health, education and future opportunities?
From one soul to another, together we can help break the cycle of poverty and Make A World of Difference, one pair of shoes… one life at a time.
Shoes are integral to health, education, employment and sporting opportunities, yet millions of children and adults lack adequate footwear to protect them and provide the opportunities they need… opportunities we all deserve. Today I invite you to Make a World of Difference by…
