My name is Shaun King and I currently work at SCU Fitness For U at the Lismore Campus.
As a health professional, people will often confide in me about personal feelings and emotions. Whether it be about body image, happiness or mental health, the majority of people have their own personal battles that they deal with on a daily basis. Exercise has been proven to be beneficial to not only your physical health, but can help to improve self esteem, happiness and mental wellbeing.
So I have decided to challenge myself by completing 100 Push Ups and 100 Pull Ups everyday, for 100 days. That equates to 20,000 reps! I have chosen to do this for two reasons. One, as a personal challenge to myself and my mental toughness. Secondly, and more importantly, to raise awareness about mental health and the benefits exercise can have on a persons psychological health.
After the sudden passing of a gym member and friend at the end of 2015, I have seen how important it is to talk about mental health on a more consistent basis.
Hopefully this challenge will encourage people to talk about mental health issues and in turn lead people into a healthier and happier lifestyle.
