I've had family and friends battle Heart Disease is the number one killer disease in Australia. I've had family and friends battle heart disease and the chances are we all know someone who has.
My journey to raise both awareness and funds for the Heart Foundation began in 2011.
In 2013, I was fortunate enough to run the New York City Marathon for the Heart Foundation. It was the same year of the tragic Boston Marathon bombings that occurred 6 months earlier.
Standing at the start line in New York I chatted to runners from Boston who had been at the marathon on that tragic day.
Standing on the start line of the NYC Marathon I pledged that one day I would run the Boston Marathon in support of both the city of Boston and the running community.
In 2018, I decided it was time to fulfil a pledge and so The Boston Project was born.
For me to run Boston, I need to qualify with a sub 3.10 marathon. My PB was ran in New York in 2013 in a time of 3.34.17.
Over the past year I've trained hard to improve my time, and just when I felt ready to achieve a qualifying time in July, I received a setback, missing my qualifying race. Since then I have had battles both physically and mentally but am now once again ready to fulfil my pledge.
Please help me to support the work of the Heart Foundation as I raise awareness of the disease that affects so many people we care and love.
Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about Heart Foundation, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
