I am writing to ask your support for a charity event that I will be undertaking.
My mission is to skateboard from Melbourne to Byron Bay!
The point of this undertaking is to create awareness of and raise money for Aspergers. The reason I have chosen Asperger Services Australia is because I have been fortunate enough to meet someone with Aspergers and was over whelmed by the strain that this can put on the family of the person with this condition.
Luckily my friend’s parents were able to get diagnosis of the condition early. This has helped a lot because it’s given everyone a chance to understand what Asperger’s is, and how to deal with it. For years now, my friend and his family have received extra help from support groups, specialist educators and doctors. Even so, the emotional strain and financial cost has been enormous.
And this got me thinking about less fortunate families who have to deal with the exact same issues but may not have the support and money to get the help that someone with Asperger`s needs.
So this charity event Rolling For Aspergers is to raise awareness amongst Australians of the condition and hurdles involved with caring for someone with Aspergers. I’ll be seeking to raise as much money as I can along the way to help Asperger’s Australia continue to support those families in need.
The event will be taking place on the Sunday 1st of February 2015 leaving from Melbourne. The finish will be at the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay. I am aiming to reach my destination by Wednesday the 25th of February.
You can help in two ways: either make a financial donation or provide me with equipment. In return, I will make certain that I give your company exposure via Local Media, Radio/TV Links through our website and all social media outlets. T-shirts will be printed with your company logo as well as on flyers/posters giving your company as much exposure as possible along the way.
Please consider getting behind my campaign. It has the full support of Asperger’s Services Australia.
I can be contacted on 0416 851 391 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss how you can help me make a real difference.
