My name is Melanie McGrice and I am a prenatal dietitian in Melbourne (see melaniemcgrice.com for more information). Through my work every day, I provide mamas-to-be with the best, evidenced-based education in nutrition so that they have safe and healthy pregnancies, and ultimately give their babies the best start in life. My team and I not only want to provide nutritional support for mums in Australia but also overseas in third world countries.
Compassion is a charity that works in 25 developing countries to release children from poverty. I have teamed up with Compassion to support a facility for mums and their babies in a community of 7930 people called Mbulu in Tanzania. This facility will be supporting the community’s youngest and most vulnerable children – the ones at greatest risk of dying within their first year of life. With an unemployment rate of 80% and little access to prenatal information and support for mothers in Mbulu, their role of a caregiver is much more isolating and difficult. This is why we need your support.
With your support and donations, Compassion staff will visit family’s homes regularly to provide mothers and their newborns with health check-ups, nutrition support and education, immunisations and medical treatments.
I am passionate about educating women to eat well, especially during pregnancy when nutrition is most important.
We appreciate any donation to help this important cause.
