Having heard about the “1333Bikeathon Out of the shadows” bike ride and the reason for the ride gave me enough motivation to participate in the ride myself and support the very worthy cause. Sri Lanka is where my roots are and hearing about the very high statistics on suicide in Sri Lanka (on average 11 suicides each day), resonated and urge in me to actively reduce these statistics and to prevent suicide in Sri Lanka.
As a fitness conscious person I will be able to gather my friends and relations to sponsor me in my venture to fund the provision of good education on suicide (how to notice and be aware of signs of suicide) to remove the stigma of suicide & mental health that has been around for years though open forums and discussions. To be able to be part of a group who will be able to financially support the endeavours of the Sri Lankan educators and care givers to support and engage with people through their difficult times.
“We believe that empowering people to come “Out of the Shadows” and talk about their problems is fundamental in reducing the burden of their problems and preventing suicide”
I am privileged to be given the opportunity to be a ride again in this year’s 1333Bikeathon, and to be able to support CCC Foundation in their 2018 fund raising quest, in their continuous fund raising efforts. I will be guided by the three C’s: Courage, Compassion and Commitment as we cycle 1333km.
Please sponsor me so we can reach our fundraising target to keep the phone lines open at CCCline, a free and confidential telephone counselling service, for those going through crisis, or simply want to talk to someone about their problems. THANK YOU!
