16 years ago, my beautiful husband Andrew won the Murray Marathon (recreational kayak class). See pic of winner with our baby Finlay.
16 years later (and nearly 13 years after Andrew's death), Finlay and I are doing the same race, now called the Massive Murray Paddle, in honour of Andrew.
My courageous husband was the first person to paddle a kayak solo and unsupported from Australia to New Zealand in 2007 – 1600km of some of the toughest ocean on earth. He came to within sight of land after 30 days at sea before he capsized and was swept away from his kayak and lost at sea.
WE only have to paddle 404km over 5 days, and when we think it's getting hard and our hands are blistered and our muscles sore, we'll think of Andrew, and he'll give us the strength to keep going to the finish line!
We're raising money for the leukaemia Foundation because Finlay lost his best friend, Connor Ansell, to leukaemia in 2016. So we're paddling for you, too, Conn!
So please support us in our Massive Murray Paddle so we can support the Leukaemia Foundation to continue their crucial research to help save lives!
