My Story

This September I'm aiming to raise $700 for the Sydney Story Factory. My aim is to write a piece of writing every single day (minimum 500 words). It can be any form of writing, so I'll be doing short stories, blog posts, parts of longer pieces and flash fiction.
Part of this is to create a habit as a writer, to force myself to commit to my writing. It's also to experiment with my own style of writing, which is long overdue. Since starting full-time work, creating that daily writing habit has been very difficult for me, so I'm using this Pen to Paper challenge to finally achieve this.
Any pieces I refine enough, I'll post on my own blog: laurenefarquhar.com. And I'll share them here!
Additionally, I have some accompanying aims: that every weekend I will edit one of these pieces I have written. And I will read minimum 1 book every week.
Sydney Story Factory is a great initiative and I was really excited when my employer, Yahoo7, announced that SSF would be one of our focuses for charities and non-profits this year. Marginalised kids not only need the basic necessities, but also to be inspired and nurture their creativity. Writing and creating art should not be luxuries: they are for everyone. So the work Sydney Story Factory is doing is really important to me.
Please support this cause!

This September writers of all varieties are committing to putting their pens to paper to keep the creativity pumping at the Sydney Story Factory. They're challenging themselves to sit down and WRITE and asking friends and family to sponsor them.
Want to sign up someone UNDER 16? Please click on "Continue Reading" to see important info.
We've already blitzed our original target! Amazing! So we're going higher, with a big bold stretch (gulp) to $30,000. Will you help us get there? $30,000 will guarantee no fewer than 600 places in one of SSF's signature book making or robot bird poetry workshops for marginalised children. Thanks for your support!
Are you registering a young writer under 16? Call the page your child's name. Then all other details, including date of birth, need to be your own to create a fundraising page on Everyday Hero (you have to be over 16 to be able to fundraise). If you have any problems at all email debbie@sydneystoryfactory.org.au. Thanks again!
