Almost everyone suffers some sort of trauma, but with help the debilitating effects can be overcome. The more a child is exposed to trauma (abuse and neglect) the greater the likelihood of Mental Health and Alcohol and other Drug issues later in life. Others, like members of our Australian Defence Force, can suffer single incident trauma which may result in post-traumatic stress disorder, with the effect of always being ‘wired’. The charity Mental Health Association helps children and adults overcome trauma of all types, and it needs our backing to do more.
I’m Harold Peacock and I am honoured to support the Mental Health Association. In November 2018, I’m climbing the top ten peaks in Australia that are all located in the Kosciuszko National Park of New South Wales. I’ll be completing all ten summits in four days, including Australia’s highest mountain Mt Kosciuszko. The combined height of all ten peaks is 21,788 metres. The purpose is to build awareness and raise funds for the Mental Health Association to continue its work saving lives, and to highlight the awesome world in which we live.
