The Kicking Goals for Kids at Westmead 24-hour Soccer (Futsal) Marathon, is about kids (and parents too!) raising money for other kids at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. We are pleased to be holding our fifth annual event from 6pm Friday 2nd September to 6pm Saturday 3rd September 2016, which aims to raise much needed funds for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. What better way to do this than by playing a 24 hour continuous game of soccer!
Over the last 4 years, the event has contributed over $193,000 to purchase vital equipment for the Oncology Clinic, the Heart Centre and Neurology at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Our aim this year is to raise over $75,000, with all proceeds to be used to purchase life-saving and monitoring equipment.
The Zouein family have again supported this event. Their daughter, Gabi has had several life-saving heart operations at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. The hospital’s care and support has been invaluable towards aiding her recovery. So a big thank you to Joseph and Clara Zouein for their continued support. Big Joe will again run the 24 hour BBQ.
Thanks again this year to Fraser Gray from KidsFutsal. He has run the 24 hour continuous game every year without incident and with a load of enthusiasm.
This year the event will be held a little closer to home. The Centre at Dural is an outstanding community facility. Thanks to Dale Lennon and Margaret Drummond and the team for allowing the use of their great facility. There are more courts, so more players, more fun and most importantly more donations.
Thanks again to the NAB Wetherill Park and Penrith Business Banking Centres, who will provide showbags to all the kids that participate in the event.
Thank you to our major sponsors: Paragon Risk Management, Global Nutrition, Snooze Alexandria, Gosford Quarries, Chris Waller Racing, Ray White Westmead, Herbert Smith Freehills, Quickfix Smash Repairs, Dimeo Group, Vertex Integrated Services for your generosity.
Participating players range in age from 5 to over 55, both male and female. Thanks also to all the kids and parents who participate and contribute to this event.
This year there will be over 500 players participating in the event. There will be some great football played over the 24 hours and if you get a chance, please come down and support the players. There will be a BBQ, face painting, silent auctions, raffles, super heroes, special guests and more.
This is not only about raising money for a great cause, but about kids learning to support other kids.
