We at the AKF WA (Australian Karate Federation Western Australia) are a governing body overseeing approximately 100 karate clubs all across WA.
The clubs in our association are providing a place for children and adults to build fitness, self confidence and a sense of achievement on their journeys to Black Belt.
We are holding a charity event on Sunday 13th September 2015 in connection with the charity Childrens Leukaemia and Cancer Research Foundation (CLCRF). We are promoting fitness, confidence and kicking for a cause in this event.
The event is going to see children from 4 years – 16 years moving through a kick-a-thon style arrangement in 2 venues, Busselton and Perth
The event is not only limited to the children that are already aligned with our clubs in our association, we are also contacting 836 primary schools throughout Western Australia to include as many children who do not currently participate in any form of Martial Arts to #kick4cancer.
We are including activities to ensure able bodied children can also participate in this event.
CLCRF are also producing fund-raising forms for the children so they can actively promote the event through fund-raising in their community.
There is no charge to the children for participating in the event so all fund-raising proceeds go to the charity.
We have so far secured Channel 9 news to cover the event and are looking at getting local radio stations to get involved too. Justin Langer will be attending the Perth location as well as support from the WA police pipe band opening the Perth location.
We have WA police dog squad and mounted divisions also providing support at the Perth locations (operations pending)
