On September 1st I will do a tandem sky dive in memory of my daughter, Suzanne (Sue) Higgs, who sadly slipped away from us on January 6th 2012 at the age of 54 after approximately one year of battling with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Sue and I were planning to skydive together on my 75th birthday but Sue's condition deteriorated too quickly for us to complete the jump. I am now 77 and a Great Grandmother and am now jumping in her honour in hope of raising awareness and much needed funds for MND Queensland.
We have seen firsthand just how important this support is. Sue received equipment and information from MND Queensland.
In short: MND is a disease with no cure. Almost 300 Queenslanders are affected and dying with MND, a terminal neurological disorder where progressive paralysis leads to death usually within 2-5 years. All voluntary muscular movement progressively is lost whilst mental acuity remains mostly unaffected. MND Queensland supports people with equipment, information and community.
Sue's husband, Darryl, has sponsored the cost of the jump, now I am asking you for your support to help me make this jump worthwhile.
