My Story

Why I support the challenge; because stories DO change lives and the world.
At seven years old I read Plato's account of Socrates, that taught me to seek the good and that the unexamined life is not worth living. I read The Magic Pudding that showed me how I wanted to live: in house in a market garden with animals, good conversation of an evening and all the pudding I could eat. As a homeless teenager Jane Eyre taught me that even if no one else cared for me, I should keep my integrity.
Stories gave me my life. My life now is dedicated not just to writing stories, but finding the 'magic' book that will lead everyone, child or adult, to the give them the confidence to create the future, for themselves and for the world.

Pen to Paper Challenge 2016

Pentopaper logoset online01 2

This September writers of all varieties are committing to putting their pens to paper to keep the creativity pumping at the Sydney Story Factory. They're challenging themselves to sit down and WRITE and asking friends and family to sponsor them.
Want to sign up someone UNDER 16? Please click on "Continue Reading" to see important info.
We've already blitzed our original target! Amazing! So we're going higher, with a big bold stretch (gulp) to $30,000. Will you help us get there? $30,000 will guarantee no fewer than 600 places in one of SSF's signature book making or robot bird poetry workshops for marginalised children. Thanks for your support!
Are you registering a young writer under 16? Call the page your child's name. Then all other details, including date of birth, need to be your own to create a fundraising page on Everyday Hero (you have to be over 16 to be able to fundraise). If you have any problems at all email debbie@sydneystoryfactory.org.au. Thanks again!
