Brenda Matthews is the CEO of Parkinson's WA. She works tirelessly with her team to ensure the delivery of the very best models of care to the Western Australian Parkinson's community she represents.
Another passion of Brenda's is trekking through Himalayan valleys and climbing snow covered peaks thousands of feet in the air around Mt Everest. She has already been on eight treks to the region.
In April this year, Brenda begins yet another challenge - this time, (weather permitting), she plans to trek for 20 days to reach the Lobuche High Camp and Summit that sits at 6199 meters (or 20,070 feet). From here she will have panoramic views of Mount Everest and surrounds.
"I would like to invite people to sponsor me to reach my goal. Every dollar that is contributed to this adventure, will go directly to our Parkinson's Nurse Specialist team who provide education and support for people and their families living with Parkinson's, and ensure informed care by training medical and allied health professionals within the industry.
My mission is to reach the top...it will be a challenge every day to keep going - a challenge not dissimilar to that faced daily by people with Parkinson's. As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely greatly on financial support from individuals and organisations - no matter how small, your contribution will be greatly appreciate and I thank you in anticipation".
