Our son Josh turns the big 5 this year and has had a few battles since he was born. This is the 4th year that we have created a superhero page for Josh as we are very passionate about raising money for research into Cystic Fibrosis. Josh was diagnosed with CF at 14 months of age, while previous also had a diagnosis of hydrocephalus, of which he has had 6 brain operations to ensure his shunt properly drains fluid from his head. Although Josh is doing really well at the moment, he still goes through so much with constant hospital appointments, various x-rays, blood tests, bronchoscopys and numerous therapy appointments. Josh looks healthy on the outside but when we visit hospital we are constantly reminded that his organs are being affected, something that we cannot see and it devastates us every time we hear it. Now that there is a new drug that has been developed recently which treats the causes rather than the symptoms of some CF patients who have a particular gene (G551D), we are even more hopeful that a similar drug will be developed for Josh's gene (R553X). We just don't really know what the future will hold for Josh and if we think about it too much it is so scary, but if we try and do a little bit now perhaps it might make a difference. Your donation is considered worth so much more to us than any Thomas toy or truck would ever be. If you saw first hand what he goes through and you feel for Josh but don't know what to do....then I'm asking you to donate to CF Australia. The biggest gift you could ever give to our loving Joshua. Thank you for your support.
