My Story

We are going Coast to Coast in the fight against depression!

After years taking part in White Cloud Foundation paddle events in both Brisbane and Hobart, it is time to take it to the next level.

We (David Pavia and Adam Scott) have seen the impact of our fundraising dollars over the years, how every cent has gone to providing services to Australian's recovering from depression. With this in mind we have set ourselves the big hairy goal of paddling for 24 hours non stop!

We will paddle 160 km in a 2 man outrigger canoe in an effort to raise $50,000 for people with anxiety and depression.

As the name suggests the goal is to paddle from Tugun on the Gold Coast to Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.

While our mates are having warm-up BBQs for Australia Day we will be launching ourselves into the Pacific ocean.

We leave at 6am on Saturday 21st January 2017 from the beach at Tugun (Sand St), paddling to the Southport Seaway before a 55km stretch up the inside of Stradbroke Island, finishing Day 1 at the Cleveland Point Recreation Reserve at 4pm. We'll cover 80km this day.

We'll re-enter the water at 6am on Sunday and hope to reach Bribie Island surf club by midday before tackling one final challenge; a 30-km open ocean paddle to get us both safely to Caloundra, around 3:30pm, on 22nd January 2017. We'll cover another 80km this day.

Here's the route:


DAY 1 - Saturday

Leg 1 - Tugun to Southport Seaway: 26km: 3.5 hours (leave at 6am, arrive 930
Leg 2 - Southport Seaway – Jacobs Well: 20km: 2.5 hours (arrive at midday)
Leg 3 - Jacobs Well – Raby Bay (Cleveland Point Recreational Reserve): 30km: 3.5 hours (arrive at 4pm)

TOTAL: 80km

DAY 2 – Sunday
Leg 4 - Raby Bay (Cleveland Point Recreational Reserve) – Mud Island (East side): 20km: 2:15 hours (leave Raby Bay at 6am)
Leg 5 - Mud Island – Bribie Island Surf Club: 30km: 3hrs (arrive 11:40/midday, leave at 1215/1230pm)
Leg 6 - Bribie Island Surf Club – Caloundra: 30km: 3 hrs (leave at 12:30pm, arrive at 3:30pm/ish)

TOTAL: 80km

Overall TOTAL: 160km

We are taking on this challenge and raising funds to make a real difference for the White Cloud Mums program. We want to raise $50,000, which will fund practical support for 438 women including the delivery of 8760 meals to Mums that are living with or at risk of developing anxiety and/or depression.

We understand that when the "Mums" in our world get wobbly or start to struggle, that the entire family can suffer. We want to help families that are hurting by providing practical support and are asking for your help.
