OFFLINE SPONSORSHIP TALLY = $146,141
On 2 November, I will commence a challenge to fly for 12 days to every continent (except Antarctica) on Qantas planes without leaving a plane or airport. This involves almost 200 hours in the air over 167,000km and includes 6 Pacific ocean and 4 Indian ocean crossings. This is only possible thanks to the wonderful support of Qantas who have provided all economy flights at no cost.
Thanks to the terrific support and offline sponsorships from Qantas, Boral , Westfield , Mack Trucks, Programmed , Komatsu, USG Boral, Caltex, JLT, DLA Piper, BMD, Optus, Adecco, Sherrin Rentals, Dowell, FM Global, QBE , Coates Hire and MSM Loss Management.
This is now the third challenge with Qantas. The 2 previous challenges in 2011 and 2013 raised a combined total of $270,000. The proceeds from the last 2 flying challenges enabled the purchase of a world leading lung function test machine and the funding of a clinical research fellowship. The funds raised from the 2015 challenge will be used to continue the research fellowship to enable critical research into treatment efficiency.
Cystic Fibrosis is the most common life threatening recessive gene condition. It attacks the lungs and digestive system with repeated infections leading to lung damage and eventually respiratory failure.
This is a cause very close to my heart as my 13 year old daughter Kristen has cystic fibrosis. Your support is greatly appreciated. Please also pass on this link to anyone you believe may have an interest in supporting this challenge.
