My Story

I have been associated with the Sydney Story Factory since construction first started on the Martian Embassy in Redfern. My wife, Kim, and I have continued to support the Story Factory because we believe teaching kids to express themselves through writing is an important stepping-stone to a full life. I am continuing my support by joining the Pen to Paper Challenge and I have committed to completing a short story in the few days we have been allotted. This is not as physically demanding as pogo-sticking around the continent or rowing to Spain in support of other worthy causes, but there is still the very real risk of finger cramps, writer's bum, or, God forbid, WRITER'S BLOCK. Be that as it may, I am up to the challenge in support of this great organisation. I hope my friends and acquaintances will DIG DEEP and help me reach my goal of 1500 simoleons. My short story is about Hector Colon and his half brother Alvarez, a rebel fighting with the Sandinistas in 1970s Nicaragua. I will be posting it in serial form here on my exciting page.

Pen to Paper Challenge 2016

Pentopaper logoset online01 2

This September writers of all varieties are committing to putting their pens to paper to keep the creativity pumping at the Sydney Story Factory. They're challenging themselves to sit down and WRITE and asking friends and family to sponsor them.
Want to sign up someone UNDER 16? Please click on "Continue Reading" to see important info.
We've already blitzed our original target! Amazing! So we're going higher, with a big bold stretch (gulp) to $30,000. Will you help us get there? $30,000 will guarantee no fewer than 600 places in one of SSF's signature book making or robot bird poetry workshops for marginalised children. Thanks for your support!
Are you registering a young writer under 16? Call the page your child's name. Then all other details, including date of birth, need to be your own to create a fundraising page on Everyday Hero (you have to be over 16 to be able to fundraise). If you have any problems at all email debbie@sydneystoryfactory.org.au. Thanks again!
