I (Sassoon Grigorian) will climb Mount Ararat, the largest single mass mountain in the world (elevation 5137m) between 11-15 August 2015, to raise funds for Mission Armenia partnering with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to help up to 5,000 Syrian Armenian children who have fled war and persecution now residing in Armenia. These vulnerable children need our help.
Your tax deductible donation will help in the following ways:
- $50 will help a child with the supply of dairy products for half a year;
- $80 will help a child with back to school supplies for a year;
- $100 will help a baby with food supplies for a month.
100 years ago Australians undertook their first major international humanitarian relief effort helping orphans and survivors of the Armenian genocide with food, aid, and funds. My children's great grandfathers were among the beneficiaries, growing up in an orphanage administered by Australians. My climb is intended to remember and commemorate those efforts.
We did it then, and we can do it now.
