Hi guys, we are off on another adventure, this time into the the Indian Himalayan Ranges. We know it isnt safe, we know a 7hp glorified rickshaw isnt the best vessel to transport us and we sure as hell know that we aren't the best people for the task at hand, but what we do know is that if we can make a positive impact through our adventures, we sure as hell will.
This charity is amazing and we have chosen the Indigenous Literacy Foundation... Being able to read opens so many doors. But in very remote Indigenous communities, books are all too scarce and literacy levels are so much lower than anywhere else in Australia. Their mission is to make a difference to the lives of Indigenous families by not only gifting thousands of new culturally appropriate books – with a focus on early literacy and first language - but also by running programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories.
These guys are helping to close the literacy gap - everyone has the right to be able to read! They have published 66 books written by community, some in their first language, with the support from many of Australia's renowned authors and illustrators.
Please be generous, lets help the custodians of this land and build bridges to a better way of living for all.
