Having studied a Masters of Science in Agriculture working for Landcare in NSW has provided me with the opportunity to work as part of our local community on our natural and agricultural landscapes. Developing relationships with farmers, volunteers and professionals in our local community is a major part of what we do. Our Landcare network represents a wealth of experience and knowledge, giving us the ability to educate and put in execution a number of projects which help overcome a range of issues that are currently affecting the NSW landscape.
NSW is experiencing unprecedented dry conditions, which have resulted in noticeable moisture stress impacts on native flora and fauna throughout the region. This includes significant tree and ground cover loss on farms, compromised farm productivity as well as the downturn in businesses in town, and stress impacting on wellbeing felt throughout the community.
It’s important to empower locals and maintain the land surrounding us. The Gunnedah Urban Landcare Group (GULG)’s outdoor work experience program hosts local school students every week at the Pensioners Hill Reserve in Gunnedah. Here, they undertake a range of educational outdoor activities aimed at maintaining the reserve and engaging the students in the process.
Your donations will allow us to inspire, innovate and be creative; helping to boost morale in current testing times in our NSW communities. Please give whatever you can over this Christmas period and share our page to your friend and family. The more people that know about Landcare in NSW, the greater the impact and the wider the reach. Thank you in advance, it means a lot.
