My name is Adrian Bol. I’m a school teacher, father of three amazing boys and I have one beautiful granddaughter. I have a passion for sport and helping others and after four decades of teaching, with my 60th birthday fast approaching, I’ve set myself a challenge – I will attempt to complete 7 Marathons, on 7 Beaches, in all 7 States and Territories of Australia, in 7 Days.
I currently work at a Specialist School, teaching students who have a range of special needs. I know how vital support is for disadvantaged children and I’ve also seen firsthand across my teaching career the effect that hunger has on children – that’s why I’m raising money for Foodbank Victoria.
Foodbank Victoria helps to provide food for my students through their School Breakfast Clubs Program, a program which is serving 50,000 healthy breakfasts a week to students in 500 state primary schools. They also work closely with 20 local charities in my community, providing food for these charities to run local food relief programs. Each month, Foodbank Victoria is helping to feed more than 116,000 Victorians through its 400+ charity partners across the state.
Sadly, there are still thousands of Victorians who miss out because there is not enough food to meet demand. That is why I’ve set myself this challenge – to raise funds to help Foodbank Victoria get more food to more people.
Every $1 donated provides 2 meals and a donation of $25 can provide a hamper to a struggling family. Please help me make a difference by giving whatever you can.
I am in the twilight stages of my career and I can't think of a better way to give back to the community and inspire others to be the best they can be. I have been training hard and while I’ve never run a marathon on road, I’ve covered the distance on sand plenty of times before! It’s going to be a huge challenge, but I’ll have a small but amazing support team with me and hopefully your support to keep me going too.
My 7777 challenge will start on Thursday June 6 in the NT, with my first marathon on Casuarina Beach. I then jump on a plane to WA to run a marathon on Scarborough Beach on Friday June 7. SA is next, with a marathon on Glenelg Beach on Saturday June 8. I then fly up to Queensland on Sunday June 9, where my marathon on Spit Beach tips me over the halfway mark of my challenge. On Monday June 10 I’ll run a marathon on Cronulla Beach in NSW. I then fly to Tasmania on Tuesday June 11 where I run a marathon on Seven Mile Beach. And then I’ll finish, probably in a heap, with my final marathon on Wednesday June 12 at Bonbeach Victoria!
Please donate if you can, and follow the journey on my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/7777BeachProject/
Please remember all donations are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt to give to your accountant.
I’d also love to see friendly faces on the beaches where I’m running. With each run taking hours, all words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated!
